»Ein dunkler Gang, von Neonlicht beleuchtet, den nach und nach immer mehr Frauen von der Seite her betreten. Die Kamera filmt sie von hinten, wie sie zielstrebig vorangehen. Katharina Gruzei zitiert hier den Film der Gebrüder Lumiere, “La sortie de l´usine de Lyon” in dem Arbeiter/innen ein Fabrikgelände verlassen. Aber sie verlegt das Geschehen in das Innere der Produktionsstätte und durch geschickte Schnitttechnik scheint der Weg, den die Arbeiterinnen zurück legen, endlos. Im “Leerlauf” dieses Ganges kommen Fragen auf zur Form, Position und dem Wandel von Arbeit in unserer Zeit. (Kasseler DokFest)
»A long, dark corridor, lit by neon lights, into which, one after another, more and more women enter from the side. The camera films them from behind as they advance purposefully. Katharina Gruzei is alluding here to a film by the brothers Lumiere: "La sortie de l'usine de Lyon", which shows workers leaving a factory. But she has shifted the action to the inside of the place of production, and, through skillful editing, the route the workers have to take to get outside seems endless. This treadmill effect provokes questions about the form, position and changing nature of work in our time.« (Kasseler DokFest)

»According to Tom Gunning, the Austrian avant-garde is an “anti- traditional tradition, equally devoted to rigor and precision as it is to fomenting chaos and liberating energy. It is a counter-universe that uses cinema to penetrate new realms of experience”. And what better way to demonstrate this that with an explosive and cinematic combo of the most recent titles of Sixpack, the definitive experimental (and documentary) distributor. From the straight sim- plicity of Friedl vom Gröller´s 16mm record-films to Michaela Grill’s complex videographic textures, this program seems to also include everything within that creative range: enigmatic postcards (Horvath), spatial fascinations (Lurf), reflections on cinema’s past and present (Pfaffenbichler, Fruhauf, Krems-Furtado) and industrial choreogra- phies (Gruzei). Although it sounds impossible for all this to happen during a screening of just an hour and a half, it’s not. It seems as if the Austrian avant-garde doesn’t believe in impossible things.«

Der Stuttgarter Filmwinter- Festival for Expanded Media widmet sich seit 26 Jahren der Grenzenübergängen von Kino und Medienkunst mit einem experimentierfreudigen internationalen Programm aus Filmen, Workshops, Expanded Media Ausstellung und Performances generationsübergreifend. Kern des Festivals sind die internationale Wettbewerben (themenunabhängig) für Kurzfilm, Medien im Raum und Network Culture flankiert von einem umfangreichen Programm.
